Park, garden or your living room......
Park
Did you know, exercising in a natural, outdoor setting can decrease feelings of anxiety and stress, alleviate low mood and increase your physical strength. Take advantage of the beautiful leafy parks of Surrey and get moving outside! Particularly beneficial if you're feeling a little sleep deprived!
Garden
Sometimes, just the idea of venturing out, packing a change bag and generally getting yourself and your little one up and out can feel like a workout before you’ve even had a workout! So why not get some cardio in without being far from your house. No matter how big or small your garden, the perfect mobile gym can be created on your doorstep!
Your living room
In those early days we are all slaves to routine! The thought of deviating away from a successful schedule leaves us in a cold sweat – The very idea of changing nap times to fit in with a workout seems ludicrous and the consequences too much to bear! So why not choose to work out in the comfort of your home, where you can plug in a baby monitor and allow me to turn any room in to a mobile gym.
My Story
Since my teenage years I have had a real passion for exercise. After graduating I worked in marketing and communications, always doing lots of exercise in my spare time. After I had my daughter in 2012, it suddenly occurred to me that in order to get my body back I’d need to spend a lot of money on childcare and gym membership just for an hour’s work out a few times a week. I was amazed that there didn’t appear to be much out there in terms of affordable exercise with childcare.
Unfortunately I had a little one that really hated being jiggled about in the in the pram whilst I tried to follow an exercise class that encouraged new mums to use their buggies as a piece of gym equipment. In fact, she was very intent on voicing her ‘concern’ about mummy squatting and lunging whilst furiously pushing the buggy around Clapham Common.
After I had my son in 2014, I thought seriously about how there was a gap in the market for a more relaxed, convenient, affordable approach to exercising with your little ones. The idea that you could bring little ones along and get them to join in or not join in, (incidentally, little ones make great kettle bells) breast feed, jump back in, change a nappy and then carry on with your burpees! Or have a 1:1 service in the comfort of your own home, without having to negotiate around naps times and feeding times with the added bonus of not paying an absolute fortune for it.
So I retrained as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor to create Hot Mumma Fitness – A service where mummies could exercise without any hassle with likeminded mummy friends, husbands, partners, friends, or on their own in parks, homes or gardens.
